About York Collective

York Collective is a black-led community organization based in Portland, named in honor of York, an enslaved individual who traveled with the Lewis and Clark expedition. The organization is dedicated to various social justice initiatives, including:

• Placemaking

• Mutual aid

• Dismantling inequality

• BIPOC liberation

Events and Gatherings

The York Collective hosts events that build upon previous initiatives such as the York Collective Retreat and Our Rooted Futures, which took place during York Fest. One of the key events is the harvest festival, designed as a space where "theory meets practice" for local care systems.

Through these gatherings, the organization aims to foster community engagement and support, while actively working towards creating a more equitable society.
